Stronger than desire, deeper than attraction.

Relationships can be tricky, especially when your ex is still hanging around. For Hanna, meeting Sophie marks the start of something new...but first she has to convince her ex girlfriend, Mel, to let her go.
But Mel doesn't want to let go. Ever.

A Darker Kind Of Love edition by Angela Peach Literature Fiction eBooks

4 out of 5 stars because this story is not great, spectacular, and/or legendary. This book is however really, really good. From beginning to end a definite page turner. My main gripe is with the ghost; many inconsistencies and questions about the ethereal presence, physical actions, and boundaries of this ghostly bundle of joy that I had to pretend to go along with it just for the sake of continuing on with the actual stories of Hanna Banana and Freddie "whatsy." The ending almost felt cheesy and moderate, lacking any fortitude to go all " injustice" or not, but playing it safe for the reader's sake and for possible sequels like Hollywood. All in all though, awesome story, cool characters, and excellent order.

A Darker Kind Of Love edition by Angela Peach Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Enjoyed this book. It was very different than anything I've read before. Couldn't put it down.
Awesome book. I hope there's another. Seems unfair that such great books must come from unhappiness. But I can't get enough. Can't wait for another
I'm surprised no one else had reviewed this one. The story was interesting and different, if not a tad frustrating at points, but that may be just because I was so invested in what was happening and I was afraid of how it would end. It was enjoyable though and I would read it again. This read has encouraged me to check out her other works.
After reading other reviews I figured I'd give this one a shot. I'm glad that I did because it was a good read. The dialogue between the characters is very believable and the narration never gets confusing. I was hesitant because of the drama involving the ex, but it was handled very nicely. The paranormal aspect was a wonderful surprise and definitely made this much more enjoyable. I'm really looking forward to the next one in the series!
This was a weird, offbeat story. At first, I thought this book would be about a stalker ex-girlfriend interfering with a burgeoning relationship which isn't quite right. Psycho ex-girlfriend fits, though.

No, this story is actually a paranormal read with a strong psychic bent. There are five different characters, six if you count the dog, that take the stage here and, for most of the book, it is told from the perspective of Hanna, the one with the mentally unstable ex-girlfriend. The rest of the cast is made up of Sophie, the new love interest, two of Hanna's best friends and Mel, the ex. All are interesting.

The book is written well and has the style of Hanna telling us a story. The first 2/3rds of the read is richly described and well-drawn out where we mostly get a day to day depiction. The last part of the book, though, jumps time gaps and I would've liked the author to keep in the style of fleshing out the story in more detail because it started to move too fast...namely, a reaction from Sophie didn't quite fit and I wanted more from Hanna.

The book has good drama, on a few different levels, some suspense, and a great twist I wasn't expecting. Mel, the ex, is an emotional sadist with a history of emotional blackmail, domestic violence, enjoyment from tormenting others, and generally erratic behavior. Those people do exist and they don't often make it into a story. And Hanna and Sophie are not squeaky clean paragons of health for love interests but they are a decent fit with each other and do have good chemistry.

Yes, there's some instalove here but the psychic piece accounts for some of it (so it gets a pass). And, for once, the two leads aren't model beautiful with tons of money so that I liked. Both find each other attractive but do others? Not sure.

If anyone has read "Playing My Love" by this author, they may remember that she gave us two completely different endings which I think most people hated for one reason or another. I actually refused to read one of the endings and picked the one I wanted. This time she definitely gives us only one ending BUT she leaves something open to interpretation. Argh. I'm not a fan of that. Tell/Show me your story. I don't want to pick but, since she's forcing me, I'm going with COINCIDENCE!

Is it worth the kindle unlimited or $0.99 (or whatever the author prices this at)...yes. It's a pretty good read and a different one at that. Because of that somewhat fast ending to the book and making me sort of pick out how the story ends, yet again, I put this in the high 3 stars.
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book a lot, it was a bit different of the regular romance story, well developed characters well developed story and had me turning pages really fast I couldn't put it down. I wonder if we'll get a second book.
I don't know if I am a serious wimp or what, but I could not read this at night for fear I'd have nightmares. Maybe I'm just not used to this genre, but I did love the suspense and the skillful way the author blended it with romance. My only suggestion would be to flush out Freddy and Juliette's conflict resolution a little better. Otherwise, found it hard to believe it down.
